Exercises
Forgiveness - Write a letter of forgiveness. It is important to let go of the hurt, anger, pain, resentment, or any other negative feelings you may still be holding onto from past or present relationships. It could be an ex-lover, a friend or family member, a teacher, a coworker, anyone that you need to forgive so that you can release the negative energy and emotions from your life. You might even consider writing a letter to yourself. It doesn't matter if the person you are writing to is living or not, this letter is meant to help you let go of the past and move on to a bright new future.
Gratefulness - Write a thank you note to a person you love or care for and tell them how grateful you are to have them in your life. This is such a simple, easy way to express your feelings to another and let them know what a special place they hold in your heart.
Observe a familiar place in a new way- Grab a pen or pencil and some paper and go to one of your favorite places. This can be inside, like a coffee shop or bookstore, or outdoors at the beach or park. Sit down, get comfortable, then start writing down the details of your surroundings. Write as if you were explaining this place to an individual who has never been there. Make sure to describe the sounds, smells, lighting, colors, textures, and how you feel emotionally and mentally. By the time you finish, you'll realize how many new things you've discovered about your favorite place.
Thankfulness - Write down everything in your life that you are thankful for having and experiencing. These can be people, places, feelings and emotions, and material things.

The Future - Write down all of the things that you want to welcome into and create in your life. This could be a teacher, a spouse or lover, a new career, a new home, or even better health. After you've written these things down, take them one at a time and describe why you want them, how you would benefit from having them, and the differences that having these things would create in you.
